I am a fully qualified psychotherapist and practising sculptor based in South London. I am a registered member of the Health and Care Profession Council (HCPC), an accredited organisation by the Professional Standards Authority and a full member of the British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT), working within their standards of conduct, performance, and ethics. I work with a psychodynamic approach which facilitates a creative process to help clients gain insight into unconscious processes, resolve internal conflicts, and develop a more profound understanding of themselves for lasting positive change.

My own artwork and sculptures are often visual and material expressions of my own inner feelings. I find that the creative process is itself a form of therapy for me, and it was through this exploration of my own internal world that I first became attracted to the world of psychology and psychotherapy and particlularly in finding ways to help others come to terms with their own past traumas, and current feelings and emotions. Psychotherapy rests on the foundations of academic studies of psychology, but is about the practical applications of that knowledge to deliver therapeutic help to those suffering psychological distress through talking and creative actions. I found that this matches my own experience of how I have learned to be an artist and express through my creativity and creations.

I am also a trained Therapeutic Life Story Practitioner specialising in helping individuals explore and make sense of their life experiences through the creation and narration of a personal life story. This approach is particularly beneficial for individuals who have faced challenging or traumatic events, such as children and adults who have experienced adversity, abuse, neglect, or significant life changes. I approach work with sensitivity to trauma, recognising the potential impact of adverse experiences on an individual’s well-being. Life Story Work can contribute to a greater understanding of oneself and provide a foundation for personal growth. I tailor my approach to the unique needs and preferences of each person, collaborating with clients, allowing them to take an active role in shaping their life story and therapeutic journey. My work is rooted in the belief that constructing a coherent life narrative can be a powerful and therapeutic process. It offers individuals the opportunity to reframe their experiences, integrate their past into their present identity, and move forward with a greater sense of self-understanding and empowerment.
